Using the Encounter Assistant

Instead of reading through a stack of documents to find one detail, ask for it. The Assistant answers from the patient in front of you, drawing on their health record, the files you've added to the encounter, and their form submissions.

Opening the Assistant

  1. Open the encounter you're working in
  2. Click Ask Assistant
  3. Type your question

The Assistant stays scoped to that encounter, so its answers are always about the patient you're looking at. Some examples of what you can ask the assistant include:

  • Pull details out of documents, e.g. “What did the recent imaging show?”
  • Get oriented quickly, e.g. “Summarize the referral and supporting documents”
  • Check you have what you need, e.g. “Has this patient completed their intake form?”

Where Its Answers Come From

The Assistant works from three things:

  • The patient's health record, including anything your team has contributed
  • The files you've added to this encounter, once they've finished processing
  • The patient's form submissions

While the Assistant works, a status message describes what it's doing, such as reading a document or searching the record.

⚠️ Important: AI can make mistakes and does not replace clinical judgement. Verify clinically significant information against trusted sources.

Adding a Document Mid-Conversation

If you realize partway through that a file is missing, you don't need to leave the conversation.

  1. Click Attach file in the message box
  2. Select the file

The file is added to the encounter's Attachments and becomes available to the conversation once it's processed.

Managing Conversations

  • New chat starts a fresh conversation
  • Chat History returns you to an earlier one
  • Delete chat removes a conversation you no longer need
